Flying Your Dog to Tasmania: Facts You Need to Know

When flying your dog into Tasmania, there are a few requirements that must be met before lodging your dog. The Import Requirement for bringing dogs to Tasmania requires that dogs must be:

  • Treated for hydatid tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus), unless exempted (more
    information on exemption below).
  • Apparently healthy and free from ticks.

All dogs that are exempt from the worming:

  • Greyhounds racing within 6 days (documentation provided)
  • Puppies under the age of 12 weeks
  • Accredited assistance or Law enforcement dogs

You will be required to fill out a declaration for the entry of dogs into Tasmania and that must be completed and signed 24 hours before the dog is due to travel.
